Christoph Schlenzig has been Managing Director and principal shareholder of Seven2one Informationssysteme GmbH, Karlsruhe, since 2001. The company provides customised software solutions to energy utilities, industry and infrastructure operators.
He studied physics, energy management, systems engineering and the energy industry at the University of Karlsruhe, the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Washington, Seattle (USA).
Christoph Schlenzig gained his doctorate at the Institute of Energy Economics and Rational Use of Energy (IER), part of the University of Stuttgart. As head of the Systems Theory and Modelling Department (SGM) at the IER, he was responsible for the development of a standard software tool which assists with the decision-making process in strategic energy and environmental planning. He headed projects in Germany, the wider EU and Africa.
In 2001 Christoph Schlenzig founded Seven2one as a spin-off of the University of Stuttgart and further developed the standard software tool into a customised solutions platform. Today Seven2one uses this tool for the digitisation of processes at energy utilities, energy-intensive companies and operators of complex energy infrastructures, working towards the long-term goal of emission-free energy systems (known as the “energy turnaround” in Germany).
Christoph Schlenzig is also a Board Member of the Smart Grids Platform Baden-Württemberg, actively promoting the energy turnaround in this capacity.
