Cristina Oyon is Head of Strategic Initiatives at SPRI, the Business Development Agency in the Basque Country. She is in charge of the design, implementation, communication, monitoring and evaluation of strategies for technology and business development in the framework of regional competitiveness policies, including the Basque Regional Innovation Smart Specialisation Strategy RIS3.
Other current responsibilities at SPRI are:
} Board member of public-private steering groups for RIS3 implementation and coordination of the strategic initiatives that come from this ecosystems, aligning the public support mechanisms to foster their development.
} Board guest member of Cluster associations in energy, automotive and health Basque sectors with the role of integrating cluster policy with other industrial policies that may enhance industrial performance through the cooperation among the companies
} Setting up of the Basque Digital Innovation Hub, an initiative that responds to the Basque strategy of specialization in advanced manufacturing to support the business fabric in the experimentation of digital innovations.
} Creation and fostering of the testing and validation centre for offshore wind components WINDBOX (www.clusterenergia.com/windbox) and the advanced manufacturing centre in aeronautics CFAA (www.ehu.eus/es/web/CFAA)
} Definition and implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation System of the R&D funding programmes of the Basque Ministry of Economic Development and Competitiveness (150 M€/year)
She is the Basque Government senior policy representative in the Vanguard Initiative. Before this assignment, she was Manager of the Spanish bid for hosting a European Research Infrastructure, the European Spallation Source and Director of Technology at SPRI. She holds degrees in Physics and Microeconomics of Competitiveness. She has recently been appointed as member of the High Level Industrial Roundtable Industry 2030 of the European Commission.
