GEMO GmbH & Co. KG is a leading manufacturer of flexible shafts and helix cables for the
automotive industry. In 2017, the company realized a worldwide turnover of approximately
45 Mio Euro with a staff member of 750 employees. The enterprise was established in 1922
in Berlin and is led today by Detlev Moritz who is the grandson of the founder.
Born in 1957 in Krefeld, Detlev Moritz graduated from secondary school and started his
studies of mechanical engineering and business economics at Technical University Berlin
which he subsequently pursued by studies at the RWTH Aachen and TU Munich.
Caused by the early death of his father and CEO in 1980, Mr. Moritz got into the parental
enterprise along with his studies. After finishing his university degree at TU Berlin, Mr.
Moritz firstly worked as employee in financial controlling at Eurokai KGaA
(Containerterminal) in Hamburg, followed by several stays in United Kingdom, Spain and
The family-guided enterprise is led since 1994 by Detlev Moritz in the third generation.
Moreover, he participates in various committees of automotive industry.
