Abdulaziz is leading Shams Power Company, a Joint Venture between Masdar (80%) and Total (20%) which the mandate to develop, manage, and operate Shams One, a 100 MW Concentrated Solar Power Plant located in the western region of Abu Dhabi Emirate.
Abdulaziz has over 10 years' experience in the engineering and R&D projects related to the renewable energy sector in general and CSP in specific.
In early 2008, he started his journey with Renewables as a Research Engineer of Masdar Research Network and had stayed at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) as a guest scientist working on a joint project between Masdar and DLR related to the hybrid Solar-CCPP with cogeneration. Meanwhile he was also working at Masdar Clean Energy and Masdar Institute on R&D projects related to the effect of dust and humidity on the different CSP technologies. He also led the engineering team of Shams power Company for few years.
Abdulaziz earned a M.Sc in Energy Engineering from RWTH Aachen university in Germany and a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from UAE University. Abdulaziz received the Emirates Energy Award for the category of Professional Engineers in 2013 and he is the UAE representative in the Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency agreement dedicated for Solar Power & Chemical Engineering Systems (SolarPACES).
