After graduating from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Willem joined Royal Philips Electronics in 1983 where he held various positions in international logistics and industrial management.
After eight years at Philips in the Netherlands, Willem relocated to Belgium, where he spent the next four years managing accounts and projects in the B2B consumer goods sector. He then moved to Singapore, where he was general manager of the Asia Pacific division of Philips Remote Control Systems until 2000. Between 2000 and 2005, he worked with B2B partners in Europe, Asia and the USA to develop the international business and marketing activities for the Philips components and consumer electronics divisions in these regions.
In 2004, Willem developed a keen interest in eReaders that led to his co-founding iRex Technologies, which started operations in July 2005 at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven.Business development and B2B marketing acceleration:
After five years with iRex Technologies, where he worked in the field of international electronic publishing and B2B document management solutions, he spent most of 2010-2011 developing a successful value proposition for an advanced healthcare research project for Philips Research USA.
Between 2011-2015 Willem worked on several business development projects for startups and large companies.
From beginning of 2015 onwards, Willem was asked to take up the role managing director of HighTechNL, the Dutch branch association for the HighTech industry and knowledge institutes.
