Do I need a ticket for the HANNOVER MESSE Digital Edition?
Yes, you need a ticket to watch the exhibitor livestreams and the conference program and to participate in matchmaking/networking with other attendees. You can purchase a ticket at the HANNOVER MESSE ticket store .
What is included in the ticket price?
Do I have to register the ticket?
The so-called registration is used to personalize a purchased ticket or a ticket code you received through an invitation e.g. from an exhibitor. After this registration you will get in the next step the possibility to log in with your access data or to create a new user account/profile.
Why do I have to set up a profile and provide so much information?
Personalizing your profile is so that we can make recommendations to you based on your interests and, if you agree to participate in networking, suggest appropriate contacts. In addition, your profile helps other participants find you and assess whether you are a relevant contact.
Exhibitor Live Streaming
What added value does exhibitor live streaming offer?
At our digital trade fairs, exhibitor live streaming is the counterpart to live presentations at trade show booths: The exhibitor creates a live program on his own and streams it via the HANNOVER MESSE Digital Edition channels, for example to present his products.
Is there an app, and can the appointments and settings be edited using a smartphone?
The entire website is smartphone-compatible. There is no app for the HANNOVER MESSE Digital Edition.
In which language do the live streams take place?
In English or German. Depending on what the exhibitor offers. Sometimes subtitles are inserted by the exhibitors, this is then announced in the program overview.
Will the exhibitor streaming be available on-demand after the show?
Yes, a few days after the event all exhibitor streams will be available on-demand for logged-in participants via the event website.
Are there separate exhibitor profiles in German and English?
The profiles must be maintained in both languages and can then be accessed in German and English.
Where do the exhibitor and product search, exhibitor live streaming and Business Dating take place as part of the HANNOVER MESSE Digital Edition?
Everything takes place on the HANNOVER MESSE website: at hannovermesse.de.
Can viewers ask questions during the live streaming?
Yes, contrary to earlier plans, there is also a Q&A tool for audience questions parallel to exhibitor streaming. Every exhibitor with live streaming also has the option of inviting viewers to a video conference room at the end of their streaming slot (see "Opportunities for interaction").
What are the opportunities for interaction after an exhibitor program slot?
After the livestream, the exhibitor can invite people to a video conference room: To do this, he maintains his live event in the DailyFair system, selects that he would like to offer a video conference room afterwards, and provides a corresponding URL himself: e.g. to Google Meet, MicrosoftTeams or Zoom. The link is then displayed shortly before the live stream is completed. The exhibitor is responsible for hosting and accessibility of this video conference.
Are there any restrictions on browser choice to ensure smooth participation?
The website is expected to work with current versions of all common browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). If certain functions - especially those related to live streaming - make it advisable to use certain browsers, we will announce this in good time.
Are browser add-ons required for individual functions, e.g. for the 1:1 video calls?
Which video conferencing or streaming providers will be used?
For the exhibitor streams, the exhibitor can use his own video conferencing tool and store a link in the DailyFair, e.g. Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex or Zoom. For the conference framework program, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and possibly Zoom are planned as video conferencing tools.
Is the conference program the "Exhibitor Live Streaming" program?
No, the content of the conference program is designed by Deutsche Messe as the organizer and forms the supporting program of the HANNOVER MESSE Digital Edition. The slots are very limited and cannot be booked.
Will recordings of program items be repeated across time zones during the show?
No, the request for replays at other times is covered by on-demand retrieval for all participants.
Will the conference program also be streamed live?
Yes, the conference program is streamed live.
Will the conference program be made available on-demand after the show?
Yes, each conference presentation will be available on-demand for logged-in attendees shortly after it ends.
At what times will the HM Digital Edition conference program take place?
The conference program runs time zone friendly between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm, with the core program running between 9:30 am and 6:00 pm. If a participant cannot follow parts of the program live, for example due to his or her time zone, he or she can subsequently access each contribution on-demand via the event program.
Can participants exchange information with each other or with conference speakers about the content of the conference?
The conference presentations are accompanied by a tool that can be used to ask questions. Depending on the type of conference contribution, these can be answered by the speakers in between or collectively at the end. In addition, video conference rooms will be made available for certain program points for interested visitors for a subsequent discussion round.
Exhibitor Media Library
What is the product media library?
A collection of each exhibitor's top videos selected from all their videos according to their participation package. These videos are highlighted in the Product Media Library as a separate section of the website.
Can I search for products in the product media library?
All media library videos are assigned to exhibitor profiles or product pages and can be found under the terms appearing there - both in the media library search and in the overarching search via the event website.
How long will the product videos and exhibitor presentations be available online?
The exhibitor profiles and product descriptions including videos linked there will remain available for at least six months until the program for the following event goes online.
Is the product media library a central media library for all exhibitors, or does each exhibitor have their own product media library where their videos can be found?
The product media library is a central media library for the event with videos from all exhibitors. The exhibitor profile contains the exhibitor's own media library videos and other videos.
Business Dating & Privacy
Can exhibitors also approach visitors?
Yes, due to the equal rights of exhibitors and visitors in Business Dating, exhibitors can also research visitors and contact them digitally.
Why does Business Dating not include direct text chat?
In the new Business Dating, contact between participants is only established by means of appointments for telephone calls or 1:1 video calls. This creates commitment and, if necessary, allows the announcement of a topic for preparation.
What is the difference between matchmaking and business dating?
Matchmaking and Business Dating together form the networking area of HM Digital Edition. In Matchmaking, interested visitors are suggested to you who match your topics and interests. Business Dating is then the concrete appointment for a meeting.
How do you find suitable participants for a contact in Business Dating?
All participants (both visitors and company contacts) indicate their interests and their own main areas of interest when registering and are then individually recommended and sorted. However, Business Dating also allows a targeted search by name, industry, interest, company, country and more.
How does Business Dating work?
Participants, which include both exhibitors and visitors, search for other participants and send you an appointment request specifying the contact method (video call or phone call). The date can be accepted by the requested participant or otherwise processed, e.g. by proposing a different date.
Is the number of "Business Dates" limited?
No, the number of Business Dates is unlimited.
Can the hit list be customized to a participant search or are people deleted when you make an appointment with them?
No, the hit list does not behave like a favorites list, but like a search engine, and always shows all results. However, you can see with whom you have already made an appointment.
Does communication take place entirely on the HANNOVER MESSE platform?
The website offers a function for 1:1 video calls. The video calls take place directly in the browser using Amazon Chime technology without installing any additional software. The calls are limited to 90 minutes. Alternatively, classic phone calls can be arranged away from the Internet platform. On an exhibitor's pages, visitors can also make contact by e-mail and leave a "digital business card." This sends the visitor's data and a short message to the exhibitor.
Do the 1:1 video calls take place in a locked, tap-proof conference environment?
They are video conferences that no third party can join. They are also not recorded and cannot be re-watched by the participants. However, due to the fundamental insecurity of video conferencing against technical errors or hacker attacks, we recommend the telephone for very sensitive conversations.
Can an additional contact person be brought into an agreed video meeting if required?
No, these are always 1:1 video calls.
Can the screen content be transmitted during a 1:1 video call, e.g. to show a presentation?
Yes, a "Share screen" function is provided for this purpose.
Are appointments made by telephone standard, self-dialing telephone calls?
Can other channels besides video chat and telephone be used for communication between participants?
In the text message accompanying the contact request or confirmation or cancellation, participants can also arrange to meet in other ways. For example, "Please contact me at email@example.com for a link to our proprietary networking tool."
Will participants in a 1:1 video call receive another email reminder before the appointment?
A reminder will not be offered for HM Digital Edition 2021, but is being planned for future events.
Is it possible to remove appointments after the fact, if appointments are cancelled or take place for a shorter time than planned, so that one is shown as available again?
Yes, as long as you have created them yourself.
What is the difference between digital contacts and other business dating participants?
Digital contacts are assigned to a company and specific products of the company: We also call them "company contacts". It is true that every participant of the event in Business Dating can establish contacts and conduct sales talks. However, only the company contacts are published on the profile and product pages of the companies.
Will my data be passed on?
Provided you have agreed to your data being passed on during the registration process, data may be passed on to exhibitors. This takes place after HANNOVER MESSE in the form of a file. The file contains information about participants who have agreed to data transfer to exhibitors. The exhibitor can use this file to see which participants who have interacted with exhibitor offers on the HANNOVER MESSE website.
Will my data be stored by third parties after it has been passed on?
In compliance with data protection regulations (including the right to be contacted once after HM Digital Edition), exhibitors can import the data and process it in their own systems.
What do I need to know about data protection?
Roughly speaking: The participant creates a user profile and gives general consent or rejection with regard to tracking and contact data transmission. This selection can be changed in the user profile at any time. In the case of his consent, the data will only be passed on to exhibitors in which he is interested on the platform. Of course, all data questions will be handled in compliance with DSGVO. However, the exhibitor is responsible for further compliance with the DSGVO in the context of a communication with the tracked participants, which were transferred to exhibitors after consent. To check his further communication, the exhibitor can view the declaration of consent by the participants on the event website and request it from Deutsche Messe. Visitors participating in the transmission of their leads to exhibitors also consent to being contacted once by telephone or (after DSGVO-compliant opt-in) by e-mail. Is there a thematic structure comparable to a hall layout?
Yes, as you are used to from HANNOVER MESSE you will find a list of exhibition themes on the website. The 30 themes of the show are assigned to 6 major exhibition areas. Visitors have extensive options for browsing exhibitors and their products using search terms and topic assignments.
Who can use the "Send business card" function?
The function appears when a company profile is called up. Any logged-in participant, whether a visitor or exhibitor, can use it to send their business card details to a company.
