As Industry 4.0 networking has continued to grow, so too has the need to give electrical connections and electronic components added protection, particularly in exposed installation scenarios. This is where gel technology from HellermannTyton has really come into its own. Its RELICON range meets the highest electrical installation standards and takes care of mechanical protection, isolation and sealing all in one simple step. The company has now chosen HANNOVER MESSE 2018 to showcase the range's latest addition, Religel Clear, which - as the name suggests - stays crystal clear after curing.

The new product fully satisfies calls from engineers and installation technicians for a two-component silicone gel that doesn’t need any safety labeling and can be applied flexibly in any given quantity - with the added benefit of curing to a transparent finish. The A and B components can still be mixed quickly and easily by hand with the usual 1:1 ratio, and the product’s excellent flowing properties and rapid curing in just 20 minutes at 23°C ensure it is extremely user-friendly. Once cured, it can resist temperatures between -60 and +200°C and boasts a dielectric strength of over 24 kV per mm. Electronic components and connections that are encased in Religel Clear are safely protected from moisture and vibrations and, when used in a suitable protective housing, the silicone gel also complies with the IP68 protection standard. But the real eye-catcher is the gel's transparency, which enables optimum visual inspection. If necessary, the soft elastic material can be removed without leaving a trace and is easily disposed of with household waste. Last but not least, Religel Clear is available in a variety of volumes and, if stored properly, has an unlimited shelf life.
