Hackers attack control systems and operating technology
Security incidents were recorded for about every third industrial company in the ICS (Industrial Control System) or industrial engineering within the last twelve months. This is the result of a new Kaspersky Lab study.

The increasing networking of production technology in industrial companies offers a wider space for attack for cybercriminals. According to “The State of Industrial Cybersecurity 2018” trend study , at least 31% of companies have experienced a similar attack during the past year. 10% of those questioned admitted that such incidents were not recorded in their company and another 8% could not provide any information. After all, three quarters of the decision makers indicate that cybersecurity has the highest priority in their company. The security firm has polled 320 industrial executives worldwide for the study.
However, a similar study by VDE (Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) reveals a fundamental mismatch between such statements and the operational reality. So far, only two out of three employers have taken care to train their employees thoroughly on the subject of IT security and almost one in two respondents felt that the IT systems used in their organization were not adequately protected and did not withstand attacks.
