Motor Scan gets old electric motors ready for IIoT

Many industrial companies are struggling with digitization, as their old machines often do not yet have up-to-date technical interfaces. A technology newly developed by WEG Deutschland GmbH now makes it possible to monitor even old electric motors in real time.

The operating data read by the WEG-Motor-Scan help to better plan maintenance and reduce downtime. The special feature of the development, however, is its compatibility with older engines. The sensors are also connected via mounting clamps to motors that have not been equipped with intelligent sensors at the factory. The advantages of the I ndustrial Internet of Things (IIoT) can also be transferred to older machines via the retrofit.

An important innovation for the industry, because predictive maintenance is often an appropriate entry point for SMEs in the world of IIoT. Intelligent maintenance has a very positive effect on the lifespan and downtime of the machines. The technical requirements are relatively low and the investment often pays for itself in a very short time.
