HANNOVER MESSE 2020 will not take place
The world of industry will not be able to meet in Hannover this year.
Comprehensive travel restrictions, bans on group gatherings and a prohibition decree in the Hannover region make it impossible to stage HANNOVER MESSE. At the same time, the corona crisis is affecting the economy, and the manufacturing industry – HANNOVER MESSE’s core clientele – is already struggling with serious consequences of the pandemic. Demand and sales in German industry are declining, resulting in supply bottlenecks, production stops and reduced working hours for employees.
“Given the dynamic development around Covid-19 and the extensive restrictions on public and economic life, HANNOVER MESSE cannot take place this year,” says Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Board of Management, Deutsche Messe AG. “Our exhibitors, partners and our entire team did everything they could to make it happen, but today we have to accept that in 2020 it will not be possible to host the world's most important industrial event.”
HANNOVER MESSE 2021 will be held from 12 to 16 April 2021.
We are looking forward to you!
Why was HANNOVER MESSE 2020 cancelled?
Every day, we have observed the dynamic development around Sars-Cov-19. A few weeks ago, the initial situation was completely different. Today, we face massive travel restrictions, border closings, bans on gatherings, and curfews – in Germany, in Europe and throughout the world.
You probably also feel the serious effects of the corona crisis in your company. Many of you have told us about declining sales and supply bottlenecks. Numerous companies have decreed production stops and reduced working hours. Currently, an end to this situation or even the beginning of a cautious improvement is not in sight.
As a last consequence, Hannover has issued a decree that prohibits all major international events in the Hannover region until the end of July 2020. This eliminates the possibility of HANNOVER MESSE in 2020.
When will the next HANNOVER MESSE take place?
The next HANNOVER MESSE takes place from 12 to 16 April 2021.
Will the next HANNOVER MESSE still require special security measures?
Deutsche Messe AG is constantly in close contact with the responsible health authorities. Together with these authorities, we will decide at the appropriate time if any special safety precautions are necessary for the next event.
Is Deutsche Messe planning an alternative format to ensure an exchange in 2020?
Until the next HANNOVER MESSE in April 2021, a digital information and networking event will enable exhibitors and visitors to discuss economic and political challenges as well as technology trends. We are currently in the planning phase and will be in touch with exhibitors and visitors shortly.
