IT consulting firm DXC Technology asked 300 managers in Germany and 100 in both Switzerland and Austria which fields of activity they plan to invest in over the next two years to be successful with artificial intelligence (AI). 82% of the German participants in the survey stated support for work as their main investment aim, followed by process automation (77%), the development of new products and services (77%), and facilitating proactive customer service (76%). Three quarters of the companies surveyed rated AI as an important issue for the future. In Austria and Switzerland , on the other hand, process automation came top of the agenda, with 88% and 78%, respectively.
In November 2018, the German Federal Government adopted the Artificial Intelligence Strategy . By 2025, €3 billion is to be invested to make Germany a global leader in the development and use of AI technologies. This will place not only industry, but also the crafts sector, trade, and services on a new footing, says German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier.
