Kathrein from Rosenheim in Bavaria is the oldest and largest antenna manufacturer in the world. Around 4,000 people work at over 20 sites worldwide to produce the company’s antennas and filters. The takeover by the Swedish corporation Ericsson should result in excellent prospects in relation to the 5G mobile communication standard. “In view of the strategic options and the growing global competition in the mobile communications sector, we want to secure the future competitiveness of this important business,” says Anton Kathrein, CEO of the Kathrein Group. Ericsson’s Vice President Fredrik Jejdling is also hoping for some benefits: “With additional focus on the antenna and filter business, which is led by Kathrein’s experts, we will be able to extend what we offer to further optimize the space required at mobile network locations for the introduction of 5G.”
