Munich Artificial Intelligence of Trucks (MAIoT) is a start-up launched at the Technical University of Munich and is part of Digital Hub Mobility , a research cluster located in the Bavarian capital. The company is currently working on an AI solution through which new algorithms analyze data generated by trucks in order to recognize any potentially necessary maintenance work. The Süddeutsche Zeitung reports that the transportation authority for Munich (MVG) is currently testing the system in 100 of its buses. The data collected will be linked to damage reports from MVG garages, with the ultimate goal of gaining the ability to detect impending damage early on.

There have already been predictive maintenance solutions for trucks for several years now. Unlike products such as Mercedes-Benz Uptime or MAN RIO , however, MAIoT does not assess just violations of defined values, but rather all data produced by the vehicle in operation. The expectation is that this level of detail will make the predictions much more precise, accordingly.
