The shortage of skilled workers is currently deemed one of German industry’s biggest challenges and is slowing down the country-wide implementation of state-of-the-art digital technologies for automating production, as various studies continue to show. This could result in up to three million unoccupied posts by 2030. Siemens is attempting to counter this trend by taking matters into its own hands and training the skilled workers it needs.

To this end, the German technology conglomerate will be cooperating with the University of Applied Sciences (OTH) Amberg-Weiden to offer the dual Bachelor degree program Industrial 4.0 Informatics, in conjunction with training as a device and equipment engineer. The course will cover content such as cloud computing, data science, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
