The VisionLib engine has been developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD ; it has been marketed by Visometry GmbH since 2017. The innovative model tracking process has already been industrially tested. What makes VisionLib special is its direct use of native CAD datasets for marker-free, model-based 3D object tracking. The technology facilitates reliable and stable object detection, and thereby opens up a wide variety of possibilities within the scope of Industry 4.0. Changes in the object will be directly visible during the assembly process and moving parts, such as doors and hatches, will be tracked in real time. The context will be captured exactly, so that augmented content can respond to the change during movement and be steadily tracked.

The Fraunhofer Society and High-Tech-Gründerfonds (HTGF) were also impressed by this and announced their stake in Visometry. With seed financing, the startup seeks to expand the functionality of the base technology and increase the potential uses of the software into sector solutions.
