As reported in the “Tagesspiegel” , one of the first manufacturers to be considering taking out a license to use the electrification toolkit is the Ford group in the US. Only recently VW and Ford announced a global alliance, within the framework of which the companies want to develop driverless cars, mobility services and electric vehicles together in the medium term. VW itself is planning to launch affordable electric vehicles from 2023 or 2024. “At that time, we will also be bringing an e-model similar in size to the T-Roc onto the market for under EUR 20,000”, Michael Jost, Head of Strategy for the core VW brand, told the Tagesspiegel.
Nearly all automobile manufacturers are now investing in electric mobility. Porsche, for example, announced at its last annual press conference that it would be spending around EUR 6 billion over the coming year on a future package including hybridization and electrification of its existing models, charging infrastructures and smart mobility.
