Production processes in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries are the field of application of the self-calibrating iTherm TrustSens TM371 thermometer manufactured by Endress+Hauser. The sensor technology used enables a built-in, fully automated self-calibration function, which in turn enables high process reliability and reduces the downtime that was necessary until now.
The sensor unit consists of a primary PT-100 temperature sensor. It is regularly calibrated by a reference sensor that uses a physical fixpoint based on Curie temperature. This ensures that the constant measuring accuracy of the temperature sensor is permanently monitored during the entire service life, including an audit-proof log.
The electronics integrated in the sensor unit also provide various diagnostic functions for Industry 4.0 applications. These functions are categorized according to NAMUR recommendation NE 107 and transmitted via HART communication. Endress+Hauser merged these functions under the term Heartbeat Technology and presented it for the first time in 2015 in flowmeters at the HANNOVER MESSE trade show.
