The 17,000 specialized personnel and managers surveyed for the job report issued by German job portal StepStone mainly see advantages in technological development. But many of the respondents did say it was time to hit the books, with a main focus on digital and soft skills, and not just expertise in their own field. Over one third of them plan to learn new technical skills in the next two years, while over half want to develop the skills they already have. Only around 5% will take a pass.
Highly motivated to learn new skills, specialized personnel and managers are charging through an open door, as proven by a study by Randstad Akademie Deutschland : According to the study, many companies plan to counteract this shortage of skilled labor by reinforcing their training offerings. Over two thirds of surveyed companies want to invest more in training their own employees in the years to come.
