The Young Engineering Award goes to Lisa Ihde

With the Young Engineering Award, Deutsche Messe is for the first time honoring a female expert from the STEM sector who is no more than 30 years old and who performs – or has already performed – extraordinary things in the technical environment. An independent jury comprised of the members of the WomenPower Congress Advisory Board has selected Lisa Ihde as winner from among the three finalists, thus honoring the immense commitment she exhibits in the STEM sector.

Dr. Christina Franke named Engineer Powerwoman 2023

An independent jury, consisting of the members of the WomenPower Congress Advisory Board, has selected Dr. Christina Franke as this year’s Engineer Powerwoman. This decision was publicly announced at the opening of the WomenPower career congress on 21 April in Hannover. Previously, the jury had nominated a total of three excellent female STEM experts for the prestigious award.

Dutch startup MantiSpectra wins HERMES Startup AWARD

This year, the HERMES Startup AWARD goes to the Netherlands. The young company MantiSpectra from Eindhoven was awarded the coveted Startup Award for its ChipSense product by the jury chaired by Prof. Dr. Reimund Neugebauer, President of the Fraunhofer Society. The award presentation took place at the official opening of HANNOVER MESSE on 16 April 2023 in the presence of Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Climate-friendly energy supply with amonia

In the future, ammonia could play a decisive role in the transition from fossil fuels to climate-friendly alternatives — as long as it is produced from green hydrogen, for example, using renewable energy sources. Ammonia is easy to store and transport. Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Microengineering and Microsystems IMM are developing ammonia-based systems for a mobile, decentralized energy supply in the infrastructure, transportation and industry sectors.
