Mechanical & plant engineering
Industrial intelligence – the application of machine learning and AI methods to industrial production – represents a new challenge for the manufacturing industry. Numerous developments originally triggered by Industry 4.0 are by now prerequisites for industrial intelligence. Thanks to the connectivity of machines, robots and cobots as well as new data and communications standards, users can collect and evaluate vast amounts of information and use this to develop intelligent processes or, in conjunction with AI methods, to design new products, thus relieving employees of the need to perform standard tasks. Exhibitors at HANNOVER MESSE will be presenting the hardware – from control systems to cobots, edge devices, 5G and additive processes – along with software, usability and the user experience as well as platforms for industrial intelligence and the associated business models. But industrial intelligence also requires knowledge management, resulting in a strong need for further education, which is why many forums and podiums will be keying in on that topic.
