Engineering enterprises need to manage and successfully apply vital materials information in order to save time and cost, drive innovation, ensure consistency, and avoid risk. In this talk, well explain why leading global companies are implementing materials information management systems, and look at some examples of their use. These uses include: managing complex test, process, and pedigree data; deriving and deploying accurate data for use in design and simulation; authoring validated material information into PLM for use across the product engineering process; and supporting Additive Manufacturing by capturing material and process data and using it to understand and optimize critical process / property relationships. Case studies demonstrating use of this technology include Airbus Helicopters, Boeing, General Motors, NASA, PSA Peugeot Citroën, RUAG Space, Rolls-Royce, and Sulzer Pumps.
