In today’s competitive global market, traditional industries need a paradigm change in their cybersecurity approach to support their ongoing digitalization. Attackers are improving their ability to bypass traditional prevention security technologies, leaving production floors exposed to cyber threats. Moreover, OT environments possess inherent uniqueness, increasing the complexity of managing cyber risks. It is time to rethink the approach to industrial cybersecurity. This paper introduces a customized, synergetic five-element approach to effective industrial cyber risk management: - Preventive risk mitigation - Orchestration and automation - Supply chain risk management - The four-eye principle - Production continuity plan   Incorporating these elements into governed industrial security processes will enable industries to safely embrace the new digital opportunities presented by Industry 4.0.
