Evaluation results of an 5G air interface for the deployment of novel, cloud based services for mobile robots are reported, resulting in added value that is generated during product transport (i.e. executing a quality inspection). For network management a slicing concept is highlighted to set up an 5G air-interface,  tailored to meet  different communication requirements (eMBB,URLCC,mMTC) . The solution is demonstrated as joint cooperation project within the actual smartfactoryKL demonstration.

Prototype Design:

Retrofitting  of a mobil robot by integration of sensors (plug&produce interface for cameras, i.e. for smartphones) and the 5G air interface. Benefit is evaluated based on the example of quality control of goods during transport. Product data (Pictures and RFID) and 360 degree environment video streams are sent to the cloud via 5G air-interace for analytics and direct feedback resulting in navigation control for the robot and a quality dashboard sent to the operator.
