HANNOVER MESSE 2019,
01 - 05 April
The 2019 European elections in May cast their shadows ahead. The political landscape is in a state of flux. The traditional parties are challenged by populist and EU-critical parties and it is completely unclear whether a conservative-social-democratic majority in parliament will be achieved again. Where is the EU heading after the Brexit, what are the answers to the refugee problem and the crumbling rule of law in the individual EU countries? Can the "European House" be held together and how will the top positions in Brussels be filled? We are discussing this with Martin Selmayr. As the new Secretary General of the European Commission, the former Head of Cabinet of Commission President Juncker will occupy one of the most important positions in Brussels and, with around 32,000 employees, will be responsible for the strategic direction of the EU in the coming years.
