Description

Due to the increasing expansion of information and communication technology and interconnecting machines, flexible, so-called cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) are emerging. At the Hanover Fair 2011, further developments in the industrial context were taken up for the first time and officially merged under the term "Industrie 4.0" (I4.0). To determine relevant aspects for fluid power technology, a case study of the automated commissioning of an electrohydraulic axis and a pneumatic handling system has been carried out.

Even with today's state of the art systems, commissioning includes a great amount of manual effort due to technological and structural challenges. To overcome the identified challenges, I4.0 concepts are introduced successively to illustrate and motivate relevant aspects of the Industrial Internet of Things.
