Description

Traditional business models are often based on selling a physical product. Increasingly, combinations of a product and an associated service (such as predictive maintenance) are taking their place in a company's portfolio. However, such service offerings must be perfectly aligned with the product. If a completely new product is developed, there is usually too little experience to be able to offer an associated, reliable service from the start of sales of the product. For example, there is a lack of knowledge about the individual wear behavior of a machine in order to offer a predictive maintenance service. Virtual prototypes can help here. These can be duplicated at will and operated independently of other business processes. The costs are low. The resulting data is suitable for the development and verification of PSS, as shown by the example of a potato harvester.
