Being a newly developed variant of TIG positive pole welding, ARCLINE® PP for aluminum materials, uses high welding currents up to 450 A. The ARCLINE® PP technology combines the high quality of the TIG process with the high productivity of MIG or plasma welding, while it does not limit the application concerning cleanliness, environmental friendliness and easy application. Focussing and stabilizing the arc mechanically, a second, concentrically to the electrode supplied gas stream (focusing gas) is used. ARCLINE® PP is recommended for a material thickness range of 2 to 10 mm on fillet welds and butt joints. With low material thicknesses very high welding speeds up to 2 m/min can be achieved. In addition, 10 mm one layer sheets can be welded at more than 20 cm/min. Measuring up to 8 mm, the welding sheet metal does not need any joint preparation. The nature of the weld requires no post-processing such as cleaning or grinding. Moreover the porosity is very low.
