The ENavi approach and recent results in the area of sector coupling
With the energy transition (“Energiewende”) Germany has set itself the goal of transforming the current energy system into a largely CO2-free and renewable energy-based system. An economical, environmentally compatible, reliable and socially responsible energy system requires a holistic view at the system level. The paper presents the overall approach of ENavi and selected results. ENavi treats the energy transition as a process of transformation in society as a whole, linking scientific analysis with political and societal demands. The results presented are based on recent sector coupling analysis with a particular focus on the building sector.
