Description

The era of protecting production areas against cyber attackers by network isolation is over. In the course of digitalizing the production processes former isolated production systems are connected with office IT or via Internet with suppliers, customers, partners and cloud services. This creates a huge attack surface for cyber attackers. Furthermore, particular hidden champions and large companies from the manufacturing and chemical industry became focus targets of cyber attackers.
This talk will show
- which methods are used by attackers to address production environments.
- why these techniques work well in typical production environments
- why preventive security controls alone are not sufficient
- and which security concepts should be used to monitor and secure production areas effectively.
