The Internet of Things (IoT) era is unstoppable - it's already here! By connecting (almost) all devices of our daily life among each other and over the Internet, the current threats of the cyberspace become an immediate threat to the world of IoT as well.

This talk will highlight the impact of recent attacks on the Internet of Things and explain why these threats need to be addressed. Using examples, we will show what insights are already available, how attacks of advanced hackers currently look like and what we can still expect. Finally, necessary measures are shown to be able to oppose the attack vectors. In addition to the internal protection of the IoT devices via proven IT security mechanisms, this also includes the proactive monitoring of the cyberspace to detect attacks at an early stage and prepare countermeasures accordingly.
