Thermoplastic fiber reinforced plastics play an increasing role in a variety of lightweight applications, e.g. in the automotive industry. Their outstanding processability in short cycle times enables mass production of lightweight components. In particular, their complex microstructure and the influence of the process history on the later component properties makes a precise virtual description and prediction of the correlation of material, process and properties necessary. Possibilities for obtaining material and process related digital data along the value chain and its combination with virtual predictive methods offer enormous possibilities and open up new application potential also in security-relevant structures.
