With the DIN EN ISI 50001 the concept of the normalization of energy performance indicators [EnPI (s), en: energy performance indicator] and associated energetic output bases [EnB (s), en: energy baseline] was introduced. The systematization of the performance indicator systems for the evaluation and increase of the energy efficiency is an absolute requirement, since there is no comparable comprehensive performance indicator system so far. The evaluation of existing processes and processes on a physically justified scale, on the one hand, opens up the possibility of increasing the energy efficiency of known processes and processes, and on the other hand, of generating research approaches for new, effective processes. This requirement can be met by applying the method of limit-oriented key figures according to VDI 4663.
