HANNOVER MESSE 2019,
01 - 05 April
Evaporative cooling systems are used to dissipate thermal loads originating in, e.g. technical processes, to the environment and run the risk of setting free aerosol containing legionella which may lead to severe pneumonia by inhalation also with death risk. This special risk has been observed in recent years. Conditions in the circulating heat exchange water and on surfaces (humidity, nutrients, temperatures between 25° and 45°) favour the proliferation of microorganisms (bacteria, algae, moulds, protozoae); entrained droplets can thus carry microorganisms such as legionella. This gives rise to health hazards as inhalation can cause infectious diseases Risks posed by, e.g. legionella, for employees and third parties will be minimised if the new knowledges and rules are met. These requirements concern planning, installation, operation and maintenance for evaporative cooling systems.
