Expert teams in Plattform Industrie 4.0, Germany, and Robot Revolution & Industrial IoT Initiative, Japan, have collaborated for standardization in smart manufacturing since 2016. The collaboration activity aims to work for broad subjects, including clarifying the objectives and the current status of standardization, investigating the important issues for future international standardization, and more particularly developing a top-down systematized approach of standardization by using use case analysis methods supported by customer viewpoints. In this presentation, the overall activities of collaboration are introduced, and the top-down approach is explained. The collaborative developments of usage views of Plattform Industrie 4.0 use cases ?Value-based Services? and ?Asset Administration Shell? are presented for the validation examples of the proposed approach.
