Exceptional dimensions, the highest demands on precision and the absolute demand for quality have shaped the technology group Voith. To meet these demands in the future as well, the company has developed an IIoT platform on which data can be collected and used. But what exactly drives a machine builder to take this step? Operators increasingly see plant manufacturers in an obligation to make intensive use of already existing data. They expect no platforms but concrete solutions that increase productivity and availability while reducing operating costs. For the platform provider, this will mean rising sales of service and spare parts as well as new business models. An IIoT platform is the necessary foundation. The development of value-adding applications and user-friendly interfaces, however, is necessary. It creates the decisive added value, but is impossible without a suitable platform.
