Connect existing machines and systems cost-efficiently and improve production processes and product quality with newly acquired information: The practical lecture will give an insight into a technology that is already marketable and with which manufacturing companies can make non-intelligent existing and new plants ready for Industry 4.0. Transparency and analysis functions are an elementary factor for early detection of impending machine breakdowns and for avoiding downtimes. Solutions are needed that are easy to integrate as well as quick and easy to use. Together with the company MSF-Vathauer, Fraunhofer IEM developed a solution approach that was awarded 3rd place at the Automation Award 2018 as Smart Active Manufacturing Module (SAM). The solution makes it possible to read out decentralized field components using mobile terminals via a wireless connection. Process and device data are supervised in real time by web server-based monitoring.
