The skillset of a purchaser is moving more and more towards that of a data scientist. Using Big Data to gain deep insights into new and existing suppliers, purchasers are able to estimate risks when introducing a new supplier to their supply chain. Through the use of data they can monitor external forces which could either threaten or innovate their business, yet most of the tools available today do not leverage the full potential of Big Data in supply chains. Gregor will draft an example of the perfect combination of data and process platforms within strategic procurement and show how new technologies will disrupt the market and speed up innovations, especially in the field of „New Supplier Discovery“.
