What is presented?

Following an introduction to current developments in UAV, sensor and acquisition technologies, presented projects include: Renaturation Monitoring of Peaty Bog Systems | Beach Erosion at the Baltic Coast | Thermal Mapping of an Industrial Harbour | Modelling of Tropical Glaciers.

What is new?

Current drone systems allow for multidimensional surveying of relatively large areas with unrivalled spatial and temporal resolution. Downsizing of sensor payloads, as well as innovation of UAVs, allow for multiple hours of flight time and data acquisition in previously unreachable locations.

What are the potentials?

Spatial data acquisition mostly utilizes satellite-, helicopter- and airplane-based, or manual field surveying. Aerial images are usually expensive, low-resolution and often rendered useless by cloud cover. Manual field measurements are not feasible for larger areas. UAS surveying can solve this
