Manufacturing is a large and complex business made of several different systems, and can be an industry resistant to change. However, with the ushering in of Industry 4.0, we are witnessing major shifts in industry and technology. The response to this revolution from manufacturers and global corporations must be integrated and comprehensive, and companies need to work closely in tandem to develop what will be the factories of the future.

This session will dive deep into one such integrated partnership between innovative digital 3D Manufacturing company Carbon and mega-brand Adidas. It will also discuss how new technologies like 3D printing are opening up a new era of design freedom in which designers are no longer beholden to the limitations of traditional manufacturing where aesthetics and performance don't often converge.

A prime example of this is adidas' new Futurecraft 4D shoe, which was developed in partnership with Carbon.
