The Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT is doing applied research and develops solutions for digital audiovisual applications that are consistently designed to meet users' requirements and expectations. At the headquarters in Ilmenau and its branch lab in Oldenburg Fraunhofer IDMT employs 125 people working on the institute's research portfolio. Following the claim ''Media technology for people'', new methods for recording, reproducing and analyzing audiovisual data are being developed, which are brought to market readiness for various fields of application. The institute is working on new forms of human-machine interaction with a special focus on audio solutions and tools for improving and evaluating human-machine interfaces. Areas of application for IDMT technologies are the pro-audio sector, fabrication and mechanical engineering, education and training, transport (e. g. automotive and shipping), communications, consumer electronics, civil safety and health.
