The Fraunhofer ITWM uses computer simulations to support companies in the design/optimization of products/processes.
Human models for the digital factory
The digital human model IPS-IMMA is used in variety of industrial applications to design workstations under ergonomic aspects. It allows to analyze reachability, visibility and assemblability on digital prototypes while considering the human variance.
Digital environmental data for the development/testing of assistance systems
The software package VMC Road-and-Scene Generator enables the virtual development and proving of assistance systems and autonomous driving functions (Level 1-5) based on real environmental data. The institute's own laser scanner REDAR measures highly accurate georeferenced 3D point clouds of the environment. From those data, all relevant objects are automatically identified, classified and attributed for the purpose of sensor simulation.
