HS Furtwangen, IAF
innovative - supportive - job-focused
The Institute for Applied Research (IAF) is the central and cross-faculty contact and coordinator for research activities at Furtwangen University (HFU). Ten high-performance Research Institutes are organized within the IAF.
Applied research is an important part of the profile of HFU. Besides commissioned research and development for companies, research projects also are funded by the European Union or from German national and state budgets. Many projects evolve in an interdisciplinary environment with other research partners (i.e. collaborative research). Applied research contributes also to our up-to-date degree programmes and offers an application-oriented education for our students in under- as well as post-graduate studies (Bachelor, Master and Doctorate).
Research at divided into core subjects ranging from medical and production engineering, smart systems, computer science and media, to sustainability, innovation and gender research, and research into social and health issues.
