The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is The Research University in the Helmholtz Association. Its major research areas are based on long-term societal challenges and seek to develop sustainable solutions to urgent future questions. The objective is to contribute importantly, by top-level research, teaching, and innovation, to the success of major societal projects. Start-ups play a key role in innovation management as they represent a very valuable way of implementing research results and strengthen the business location in a sustainable way. At HMI KIT exhibits some of its various spin-offs and start-ups to present an extract of innovations developed. A brief introduction to each spin-off and start-up, including the exhibition plan, can be found at http://www.kit-gruendernews.de/hmi2018 .
