The Buesgen-Institute is a scientific institute of the faculty of forest science and forest ecology of the Georg-August University of Goettingen. It is structured in ten departments and organized below the faculty of forest science and forest ecology.
The working group chemistry and technology of composite materials is in particular dealing with wood-based materials and the application of alternative binder systems. The development of a lightweight particleboard using popcorn granule in the middle core led to the idea of a composite purely made of popcorn granule and binder. In the research projects, the development of different products like acoustic insulation boards and packaging systems, are aimed. Therefore, 3D-forming methods are coincidently worked up.
