The Westphalian Energy Institute is a central research facility of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen, which concentrates the university's energy competencies. It is structured into four different subdivisions which are referred to the topics renewable energies, energy conversion and distribution, energy management as well as energy economics and politics. Already before the Westphalian Energy Institute has been re-founded it could establish itself as a reliable research and development partner for the industry. In particular, due to the interdisciplinary work of the different research teams of the Westphalian Energy Institute, innovative solutions in research and development can be promoted.
