30th Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium
Turning Data into Sustainability
The massive impact of the Corona pandemic, which is affecting many manufacturing companies and changing the direction of our global economy in the long term, is raising new, trend-setting questions about the future of production technology. One of the key words for industrial production is: productivity. But how does a company manage the transformation to emission-free and sustainable production?
Topics that were not previously part of the definition of productivity are taking on a new significance as a result of changes in the requirements of the capital market, from a purely financial orientation to a holistic view of sustainability. How to successfully undergo this sustainable transformation, for example with the Internet of Production (IoP), and at the same time position one's company to withstand crises, is what the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT want to discuss during the 30th Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium (AWK) on September 22 and 23, 2021, at the Eurogress Aachen and digitally.
Under the new guiding theme of AWK'21, "Turning Data into Sustainability," the aim is to shed light on how manufacturing companies can achieve rapid, error-free improvements in series production through demand-driven data acquisition and machine learning, and how they can thereby produce resiliently and sustainably. The focus here is on strengthening manufacturing companies through a higher level of resilience. The objective is to enable companies to deal with drastic crises and to return to profitability within a short period of time.
For visitors to the event, the colloquium is intended to sharpen the view of the future and thus of the production turnaround, and to provide important impetus for remaining competitive in the international arena in the long term.
