AIRSKIN is a safety collision sensor, developed by the Viennese company Blue Danube Robotics. It enables collaborative applications at the highest safety level. The system is TÜV Austria ISO 13849 in Cat. 3, PLe certified.
The safety technology consists of soft pads that cover the robot like a second skin. Even clamping and squeezing areas are thus being secured. In the event of a collision between the robot and an employee or an object, the collision sensor responds and instantly triggers an emergency stop. In addition, the soft pads dampen the effects of force that could occur until the machine finally comes to a standstill. These features make AIRSKIN ideal for use in ISO / TS 15066 compliant applications.
A snap-on system ensures quick installation and easy maintenance. Even untrained employees can install AIRSKIN on a robot in less than 30 minutes. Since AIRSKIN is connected to the robot like a conventional safety fence, there are no unexpected challenges in programming. This saves time and costs when implementing collaborative applications.
