The ambiPRECHARGE is a active precharge unit to limiting inrush currents occurring during plugin or on-switching of high capacitive loads. These inrush currents can be much higher than the maximum current during normal operation and the maximum current allowed by fuses protecting wires. However, primary reason for a precharge unit is protecting the current source (e.g. batteries) which becomes connected to a capacitive load. The active precharge allows to control the current flow and the detection of failures.
