The research project "CyberSecurity-Network Saxony-Anhalt " is a joint project of the Harz University of Applied Sciences, the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU). As part of the digital agenda of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, it is financed by the state and from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Digitalization poses major challenges and potentials for users and security experts: more and more devices communicate with one another over the Internet without human intervention. This does not only include smartphones and other everyday objects but also topics like the Internet of Things and industrial components. These new devices and networks represents popular targets of attack, on the other hand smart security techniques are emerging. Therefore, new approaches are needed for companies to be able to work and to produce while protecting their data and systems. Small and medium-sized companies in particular often lack the resources to address IT security from the start and integrate it in a reliable fashion.
The aim of the association is to support IT security in small and medium-sized companies and public institutions in Saxony-Anhalt. To enable this, the scientist analyze security threats for their customers (including past attacks) and analyze the need for specific solutions. The three universities jointly create and establish future solutions.
