With over 30 years of experience in digitally networked machines including peripheral equipment, ARBURG is the leader in digital transformation in the plastics industry. At the Hannover Messe 2018, a turnkey system based on a vertical ALLROUNDER 375 V injection moulding machine is presented as a practical example of Industry 4.0. On demand and yet cost -effective, it performs high-volume production of elastic tension straps in various versions - from shot-to-shot and flexibly according to customer requirements. Handling of the flexible inserts is performed by a six-axis robot.
As a central component of Industry 4.0, the ARBURG host computer system (ALS) can record and archive all the relevant production and quality data, ensuring complete traceability of orders, batches and individual parts. Thanks to the OPC UA-based interface, machines and peripheral components can be networked in a simple and standardised way.
For the industrial additive manufacturing of functional parts, the freeformer and ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) are included in the ARBURG range. The open system affords users independence: freeformer customers can qualify their own original material and optimise the process parameters specifically to the relevant application. In addition, the trade fair visitors were able to handle so-called "experience parts" at an interactive station and convince themselves of their functionality and quality.
